I have been awarded the leibster award

One of my sweet followers from Angela nominated me for the leibster award.  The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers. According to Angela's post, Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.
If you have never seen her blog it is fun amd she is crafty!
As part of the nomination, Angela asked me to share five random facts about myself. So here they are:

  1. I was a hairdresser for 15 years before I became a full time painter.
  2. I have two brothers, one does some acting in commercials and small budget films/ My other brother has two kids and such a good single dad! So if anyone knows any single gals in mid 30"s he is a great guy!(He would kill me  he saw this! LOL)
  3. I love off the beat movies on netflix that you have never heard of but are different then mainstream movies. Believe me I have watched some strange ones!
  4. The older I get the less OCD I have become. When the kids were young everything had to be a certain way and would stress myself out over silly things! I don't anymore I let so many things slide by that would of drove the younger me bonkers!
  5. I'm scared of water and failed swim lessons because I refused to put my head under water.

So after much debate I nominate these blogs for the Leibster award. If  you have never checked them out please do so!

1. Post about your win on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who presented you with the award and follow their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award button to your blog (you can right-click on the Liebster label from my page, save it to your computer, then save to your blog).
4. Present The Liebster Award to 5 blogs that have fewer than 200 followers that you think deserve to be recognized.
5. Let them know by leaving them a comment on their blog.

Thanks for stopping in and please visit these blogs I nominated! We all have to start somewhere! Traci

Seeing Red

I think it no secret that I love red. I love using it as a pop of color. This week I found this dresser on craigs list. It's veneer top was peeling up and one leg was missing a major chunk out of it. But I saw potential.
I scraped the veneer top off of it. Even though it was peeling up the rest was stuck tight. So I wet it all down and waited a bit and took my hammer and a thin chisel ever so patiently scraped it off. (well there might have been a bad word or two)
I then painted the body with Annie Sloans chalk paint in scarlet. Then waxed the whole thing with the dark wax. I stained the top. Which the top definitely has a rustic look to it which I love.

I could see this being a buffet,tv stand or even an island in a kitchen.

I was debating last night how marvelous it would look in my living room.

Of course Mr. Sn was like what about the one we have in our lv room? I said we could trade it out...
He just rolled his eyes.
Isn't that part of the fun of this business though trading things out?
Men just don't get it.
Well that dream was short lived because it sold last night.
Hope you all have a great week!
Those of us in the midwest stay cool!!

Well I have been at it some more. Painting and creating something I feel so blessed to be able to pursue. I picked up this buffet several weeks ago it had some minor issues like the doors would pop open when you picked it up. That was fun trying to get it into my workshop with the doors popping open finally resorted to tape so we could at least get it through the door!
Mr. SN took a look at it and fixed the problem yay!
I really need to get better about taking the before shots. I will work on that. It is I'm the type that I get out to my workshop which is a trudge across my back lawn and get all inspired to do whatever the project of the day is (usually thought of  on the walk out there) and I throw myself into it and think I don't want to walk back to the house to get the camera. I could start taking the before with my phone which is always with me.
I'm very pleased with how it turned out though! I sanded down the top and stained it and painted the bottom a creamy white. Can you believe I left the bottom and did not shabby it? I know! I just felt it was gorgeous the way it was so did not want to shabby it.

Love the way the middle door comes down for easy access to put in platters or other large items.

I sanded the heck out of that top! My arms were sore for a couple days!

This last weekend I went to a Tent sale to set up my stuff at the antique mall I sell out of. I was a little disappointed not that many actual dealers set up. It kinda had a junky flea market feel. So it drew in a different crowd of people then my usual crowd I see. But you know that is how you learn by trying things. Trial and error.

My friend who cuts out the galvanized tin was nice enough to give me some pieces to put up. She does such cute things with it! We tease her that we have to get tetanus shots to hang with her.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Had to show you my curb find!
